Bill Richards, bass

Upon moving to New Orleans to study at Tulane, Bill Richards immediately immersed himself in the music scene. He started as a trumpet player with The Flavor Kings from 1994-1997.

After college, Bill switched his main axe to electric bass and co-founded the progressive fusion group, Afroskull. The band was a fixture in New Orleans and did some touring from 1997-2002. Eventually, members of Afroskull relocated, and Bill stayed in New Orleans. Since then, he has made his living as a freelance bassist and can be seen playing all over the city and throughout the region.

He currently plays bass for Big Chief Monk Boudreaux, Colin LakeRussell Batiste (The Funky Meters), Cha Wa, Adam Crochet and I Tell You What, and the Syrens.
